David Diamond

David Diamond is the president of Prideworks, an annual conference for LGBTQ+ youth and allies held in Westchester, and a program specialist with WJCS Center Lane.

Diamond, who is originally from Westchester, has been working with LGBTQ youth in the area for nearly 20 years. In this interview, he discusses the origins of Prideworks, his experiences celebrating Pride in Westchester, and how Center Lane works to help LGBTQ+ youth “create community, connect with culture and contribute to the world.”

In fall 2024, the Westchester LGBTQ+ History Project and Yonkers Public Library Public Humanities Fellow Benjamin Zender hosted a free workshop for LGBTQ+ Westchester residents of all ages to digitize their own personal archives. The Prideworks Archive, containing conference materials from the years 1992-2012 was among the materials digitized, and can be found here.
